FAQs

What’s the goal here? Why shop here and not at another keyboard site?

Because I make nice and simple products with simple price-tags.
My goal is to give you everything you need for a kit that won’t break the bank.

Do your boards support RGB?

No.
I have one kit that I’m working on under-key lighting for, but that’s it; no RGB.

Do I have to wear pants when I solder?

No, but I do recommend it.

Why are your keyboards named after car types?

I really wanted all of my products to fit a single naming scheme.
First it was just gonna be “Claw12, Claw27, etc.,” but that went south real fast. Same with naming them after my pets.
Then they were all going to be cars, and the Sidekick was originally named the SideCar. Sounded fun at first, didn’t work as I planned out farther than about three devices.

What’s your return policy?

You may return any unused piece/asset from the store, but you will have to pay for shipping and there will be a 25% restocking fee in your refund.

You cannot return soldered/used items; I do offer free tech support if you need it.

Do your boards have cases?

Nope. I make what I love, and I love the look of a sandwich board with floating keys.
If you make a case for one of my boards, I’d love to see it!

Do your boards support any kind of wireless connectivity?

Some do!
All of my macropads are nice!nano compatible, which means you can get that sweet sweet BLE/wireless connection.
With time, I might be able to arrange the Coupe and Sedan to support it too.

Will you build it for me?

Yes!
I will build any of the kits listed for sale.
Email me at alex@clawboards.xyz and we’ll discuss pricing.

Expectation management: me building a Coupe for you will cost approximately $170USD.

“I don’t know how to solder and the idea of soldering a board is scary.”

Not a question, but I get where you’re coming from.
I learned how to solder specifically so I could build an Iris v4. I promise you it’s not as hard as you think it is, and you’ll get a lot of satisfaction from building the kit yourself!

Do you ship international?

Yes, I do! However, it may be expensive. The price of shipping is not built into the price of the products. This way you only pay what you need for shipping. Some people will pay more depending on shipping location.

Are you just a reseller?

No. All of the macropads and keyboards are designs of my own making.

Why don’t you sell Pro-Micros?

Because I hate micro-USB. It’s a legacy port that needs to die off.

Why should I build a kit instead of buying a pre-made board?

Because you get so much more satisfaction from building it yourself.
Anyone can buy a keeb from Amazon, or a pre-made board from Drop and just hot-swap in some key switches.
But you can build the board to your heart’s desire, knowing that every bit of solder in there is your doing.
And when you tell someone you built your keyboard, you absolutely mean it.

What should I expect shipping times to look like?

For a base kit order or component parts, I’ll get to your order in 1-2 weeks, then expect 3-5 days for shipping via USPS.
For international orders, please expect a 6-10 weeks for the order to arrive at your mailbox.
I do work a full-time job and have a family, so I’m not going to be able to resolve things as fast and efficiently as Amazon, or even Novelkeys, but I’ll do my best.
